“Library Consortium Tests Interlibrary Loans of E-Books”

Academic libraries lend print books all the time. But rights restrictions have made it very difficult for them to lend ebook files to patrons at other institutions. Occam’s Reader, a pilot project led by the Greater Western Library Alliance with the cooperation of Springer publishers, is trying out software built to let libraries share ebook files without making publishers nervous.
