Lullaby in Libraryland

July 25, 2018

A good sleepover requires a good story. (Photo via the Somerville Public Library Facebook page. Check out the whole album!)

A certain piece of anti-library commentary (now removed) on the Forbes website got a lot of deservedly negative attention the last few days. At least it provided a nice lede for this most delightful story about a stuffed-animal sleepover at the Somerville Public Library.

This is such a fun idea–and a reminder, if anybody needed one, of the many creative ways public librarians engage the public. DC Public Library, how about staging a lovey sleepover in DC if you haven’t already?

I’ll bring my beloved stuffed owl, Ostrobogalus. He’s a little shabbier than he was when I was 5–but he still loves books, reading, and libraries.
