A Cinderella Story

April 2, 2018

From “Cinderella, or The Little Glass Slipper” (1908). Via Internet Archive Book Images

Look! I have a short story out this week! “Nobody’s Girl” is a Cinderella postmortem of sorts. The setup: Cindy writing a letter to her dad while on her honeymoon.

I always wondered why Cinderella’s dad didn’t stand up for his daughter more, and whether that made her angry. Why wouldn’t it? “Nobody’s Girl” lets our heroine be angry, in a nice-daddy’s-girl sort of way, with only a few hints of violence seeping in around the edges. Nice girls get angry too. (Note the murder-red hands in the illustration.)

Thanks to Idle Ink for giving this story a home. I hope you enjoy it.

What happened to Google's effort to scan millions of library books? Quite a lot, actually. I wrote about it for EdSurge.
